Sustainable reporting

Sustainable reporting toolkit - includes checklists, guidelines, templates

It is not enough for the City of Melbourne to look solely at the financial bottom line of our operations.Triple Bottom Line

As an organisation that is concerned with the future, we must have our eyes firmly focused on what is known as the Triple Bottom Line, or TBL.

We understand our impacts are far reaching and, to have the ability to respond, we are collating, monitoring and analysing a range of indicators from our social, environmental and economic activities.

The City of Melbourne sees the challenge as striving simultaneously for:

  • social responsibility - making decisions that lead to greater physical, cultural and financial access and equity in service delivery and activities;
  • environmental responsibility - not using more resources than required to deliver activities and services; and
  • economic responsibility - promoting and maintaining a city’s economic development and growth in a sustainable manner.
