On 1 July 2007, Docklands officially became part of the City of Melbourne municipality. This latest addition to Melbourne is still developing under a plan that will see completion in 2020. Responsibility for the district is split between the City of Melbourne and VicUrban, the Victorian Government's sustainable urban development agency.
