Eco-city

Through its Eco-city campaign, the City of Melbourne aims to motivate and educate people and organisations to act now on the future challenges of our changing climate.

Energy Saver Scheme

The 'Energy saver — it all starts at home' scheme has been introduced to help residents improve energy efficiency in their homes.

If you are interested in upgrading lights, showerhead, insulation, hot water system, or draft proofing in your home at low cost or even no cost, find out more about Energy Saver — it all starts at home.

Green tram — get on board the green tram

Green tram

Have you noticed the green tram travelling the City Circle route? As well as passengers, the green tram is carrying a host of environmental sustainability messages, encouraging visitors, residents and local businesses to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Electricity used to run the tram has been offset with 100 per cent accredited GreenPower sourced from one of Pacific Hydro’s Victorian wind farms, making it a truly sustainable transport option.

The City of Melbourne and green tram partners Zoos Victoria and Yarra Trams are doing their bit for the environment — what are you doing?

Find out what you can do — and what a difference it can make.

PlatypusWaste not

Put your litter in the bin. Rubbish like cigarette butts and plastic drink containers are washed from city streets into rivers and creeks. Waste not.

Maned duckSave water

In two years, the City of Melbourne has cut water use in parks by 62 per cent. Do your bit and turn off the tap or install a low flow showerhead. Save water.

EagleOn your bike

The City of Melbourne has more than 110km of bike paths, so get on your bike at least once a week and reduce carbon emissions. On your bike.

Support green business

30 city hotels have gone green by reducing waste, water and energy. Support green businesses and reduce CO2 emissions. Support green business.

Transport choices

By catching public transport, such as this green power tram, you’re making a positive impact on climate change. Transport choices.

Green office

By adopting simple energy efficient changes in the office we could save 960,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, equal to taking 200,000 cars off the road. Green office.
