The needs of pedestrians have been pivotal in shaping the public urban environment through much of the history of cities. Pedestrian presence and activity have long fuelled the life of the city.
From its inception, Melbourne’s central business district has been the subject continual design research and intervention.
Exhibits included built and unbuilt industrial design projects, photographs and prototypes. Some were installed on the footpath outside, with the gallery floor paved to connect the exhibition space and street as a single experience.
