                    Community organisation training

                    The City of Melbourne is invested in building the capacity of local community groups and non-profit organisations, so that they can deliver better outcomes for our communities.

                    ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​We do this by providing free training opportunities, resources and advice to local community groups and non-profit organisations.​​

                    Community Learning Library

                    ​Representatives from local community and non-profit organisations can request a free license to access the iclick2learn Community Learning Library. The Library contains resources on a broad range of topics including:

                    • Boards and Committees
                    • Events
                    • Financials
                    • Fundraising
                    • Grants and Tenders
                    • Marketing
                    • Risk Management
                    • Volunteers
                    • Child Safety

                    ​​​The Community Learning Library is suitable for those who prefer to learn at their own pace, through on-demand access to videos, courses, interviews, templates and live webinars. 

                    Eligibility​

                    To be eligible to receive a free license you must be a representative (includes committee members, workers and volunteers) from:

                    Limit of 1 license per organisation.

                    • the email address you would like the license to be assigned to
                    • the organisation you represent 
                    • the suburb in which your organisation is located.

                    Online and face to face training

                    ​Representatives from local community and non-profit organisations can register to attend free training sessions with our partners at Non Profit Training. Their live interactive training program includes a range of topics such as governance, finance, grant writing, marketing and social media, and more. Training sessions are available in person and online. Eligibility criteria apply. 

                    Eligibility​

                    To be eligible to attend this training you must be from:

                    Who should attend

                    Community organisation representatives (committee members, workers and volunteers) that have limited experience in the areas of topics offered are encouraged to attend, for example sports clubs, multicultural groups, resident groups and service organisations.

                    Free 

                    Bookings​

                    • Online sessions will be held online using Zoom. Face to face sessions will be held at Ross House Association, 247/251 Flinders Lane, Melbourne VIC, 3000
                    • There is a maximum of two participants per organisation per course.
                    • There is a maximum of five participants per organisation per financial year.
                    • Bookings are essential and places will be allocated to the first to apply.
                    • People who have not booked will not be allowed entry.
                    • Cancellations are essential as sessions do fill – you can send a delegate in your place. Cancellations must be made within 48 hours prior to the session.
                    • Failure to attend a session that you have booked for may result in future bookings from your organisation being placed on the waiting list.

                    • the name and date of the training session you wish to attend, and if you wish to attend online or in person for hybrid meetings
                    • your full name
                    • contact phone number
                    • the email you would like to use for the training
                    • the organisation you represent and your position
                    • the suburb in which your organisation is located.

                    If you have any access, language interpreter, or other support requirements, please let us know when you RSVP to ensure that we can arrange any reasonable adjustments. City of Melbourne will pay up to $500 per training session for interpreter costs. The remainder of costs must be paid by the organisation the attendee represents.
