About the amendment
All Victorian planning schemes are required to undertake a PPF translation as part of the Victorian Government’s Smart Planning program. The new PPF restructures the policy section of all planning schemes into a series of themes, each of which has a State section and may have a regional and local section as relevant. This process has been overseen by the Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning.
Current status
On 30 November 2021, the PPF Translation was presented to the Future Melbourne Committee. Following this, in December 2021, the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Melbourne wrote to the Minister for Planning to advise that Council supports the implementation of the PPF Translation via an amendment to the Melbourne Planning Scheme prepared by the Minister for Planning.
