                    Disability and Access

Access is and always will be an ongoing part of our work and our art.

                    Venue Access

The Signal building has step-free entrances, a lift to the first floor, and an accessible bathroom.

There’s a kitchen available and you can put things in the fridge during events.

There’s a moderate amount of noise, mostly from the nearby train tracks or from skaters playing around outside the building.

You can see a full Access Key (including directions for getting here from nearby public transport) here:

                    Disability Action Plan

With the aim of creating a more inclusive, accessible and anti-ableist Signal, we’ve created a Disability Action Plan (DAP) to guide us in our events, programming and everyday activities.

You can read or find out more about the Disability Action Plan (DAP) in the following formats:

                    Auslan introduction

This DAP has been created through a direct co-design and peer review process with Disabled people to make sure Signal is accountable and responsive to the needs of many disabled communities.

As disabled experiences are varied, we have collaborated with six young disabled artists to create visual and audio responses to this DAP. Find out more about the Signal DAP and view the artistic interpretations of our Disability Action Plan.

We strongly value community feedback in this process and we encourage you to share your thoughts and experiences to ensure our continued improvement.

You can give feedback in the following ways:

When giving your feedback, please let us know if you would like a Signal staff member to respond.

Please note, for access information on specific events, contact signal@melbourne.vic.gov.au.
