This survey builds on a body of research into retrofit potential by commercial buildings.

In the survey we asked a cross-section of building managers and facilities managers about current and past retrofits and their plans for future retrofits.

We also asked them about the drivers and barriers to retrofitting and the level of awareness of the 1200 Buildings Program.

                      Previous survey

The previous retrofit survey undertaken in 2013 represented a statistically significant number of interviews. Of 2256 buildings that contain some level of office space, the owners and representatives of 589 buildings were interviewed by phone.

In addition to quantitative data, the survey also sought feedback on the role of perceived industry barriers to retrofitting including the split incentive, access to finance and access to consultants.
