Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) has won the 2015 Melbourne Award for Contribution to Profile by a Corporation.

MCB is a not-for-profit company jointly funded by the Victorian Government, MCEC, the City of Melbourne and 270-plus industry strategic partners.

The company is responsible for identifying and securing large international conferences for the city. This is all new business and helps drive the city’s visitor and knowledge economy.

MCB positions Melbourne nationally and internationally as a business events destination that goes above and beyond for organisations, planners and delegates, creating lasting social and community impacts. These legacies ensure business events deliver well beyond the event itself, and are a compelling reason for planners to choose Melbourne.

In one year alone (December 2013 to December 2014) MCB achieved a world-first, hosting five of the world’s largest health conferences. These attracted almost 35,000 experts in their field to Melbourne, of whom 27,050 (75 per cent) were international. The five conferences contributed an estimated $204 million to the economy.
